Pleasure Juxtaposed to Discomfort

Is it something that is embedded in our psyche which makes us want to please one another to the point that we are willing to harm ourselves in the process? In many forms of ancient civilization, it was believed that it was a person's duty (often times both men and women) to please their partners. But the question is at what cost should one go about pleasing another? There are many safe alternatives to dealing with problems with arousal, rather than using medication. Often the side effects of the medication can be heart attacks during sex, can cause your blood pressure to be imbalanced, medication can cause strokes, retina disorders and other symptoms. Most people do not realize that there or other healthier alternatives like surgical procedures and natural herbal medicines. So, why discomfort yourself by worrying if you are treating yourself the right way; please your partner by informing yourself through the knowledge of a professional.

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

Often times we see commercials on TV that talk about erectile dysfunction and many men probably think they are suffering from this because they some times have problems performing. Well, I am here to rest your conscious; because if you have problems getting erect on rare occasions that does not necessarily mean that you are suffering from erectile dysfunction. Symptoms that suggest you are suffering from ED are: if your erection is becoming weaker or more flaccid during intercourse; every one out of five times you have sex, you have problems maintaining an erection; maintaining an erection becomes a conscientious task on your part (it does not happen naturally); certain sexual positions cause you to lose your erection and; ejaculation occurs often without reaching a full erection. So, do not be too self conscious if you suffer from some of these symptoms on rare occasions because chances are that you're not suffering from erectile dysfunction.

Is it Psychological or Physical?

Can erectile dysfunction be associated merely with psychological issues, or can it also be characterized by some physical ailment like old age? Studies suggests that males who suffer from erectile dysfunction are more likely over the age of 40; but this does not men that men under the age of 40 cannot suffer from erectile dysfunction. Studies have also show that at least one out of every ten men suffer from ED, and the majority causes of the dysfunction happen to be physical rather than mental. More than likely men in their sixties and seventies will suffer from ED because vascular diseases start to occur more rapidly in men during these ages. Men that suffer from hypertension, diabetes, cardiac diseases, high blood, high cholesterol, hormonal deficiencies and chronic smokers are more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction. Therefore, the facts would suggest that erectile dysfunction is more physical than psychological.

How does ED Affect Men Psychologically?

Men who suffer from erectile dysfunction may happen to go through many psychological changes as a result. Making it more important for their loved ones to be extra patient and caring to their situation. Studies suggest that only 10% of the men who suffer from ED are related to psychological issues. Some of the psychological affects that can be associated with ED include: anxiety when it comes to performing sexual intercourse; dealing with depression; being bored with your sexual partner; high levels of stress in ones life; guilt of cheating on your partner; lack of adequate rest and; merely by having a low sex drive. Erectile dysfunction can also affect young men who have had unsavory past experiences with sexual partners or tend to distrust their sexual partners due to paranoia. The overall problem is, that once men start suffering from ED as a result of their psychological behavior it is hard from them to recognize these embedded factors without the help of a professional; causing their problem to become more severe.
